Flashing While Guarding de_dust2 Site A

There are times when you have to guard the site A in de_dust2 all by yourself. If 3 – 4 Ts rush in from the short then most people, including you, will probably flee from the site. I’ll show you a trick that can come handy if you have a flash grenade with you. Using that you might kill 2 – 3 of them. Here’s a picture showing a CT looking for any Ts coming from the short.

CT guarding site A

The crates here provide you a very good cover if you know what to do with them. If you hear Ts coming, hide behind the crates and switch to flash grenade as shown.

Behind the crates

You will be able to see throught the slit between the bottom two crates. Throw the grenade through this when Ts approach this spot. If timed correctly, it will completely blind the rushing Ts. Use whatever weapon you are good at and burn them. Here’s a picture how it lands the spot.

Blinding The Sniper At T Spawn

It can sometimes be a real pain for a CT to pass through the long doors if a T sniper is aiming from his spawn like this.

T camping sniper

This spot is perfect for a camping sniper as he is pretty much safe from CT rushes from both short and long sides. Also he can escape quickly to B side if he feels himself in danger. Passing through the doors will require quite a skill and experience if the T sniper is a pro himself. Or he may not pass at all if the sniper is really good. I’ll show you a trick where you can blind him and cause him to retreat, so that you can pass through the doors.

While standing in the long tunnel, run forward and hit the flash grenade at the top of the crates as shown below. Remember not to come into sniper’s view while doing this.

The grenade will flash as shown below.

This way you can blind him without getting into his aim.

Mid Doors Sniping – CT Side

Sniping through mid doors in de_dust2 is a common thing in public servers. Ts have advantage of having the sniping very near to their spawn. So, in general, sniping through mid doors is done mostly by Ts. It can be difficult for a CT to snipe a T who is already aiming through the doors. Here’s a view from T side.

T spawn sniper

If you will get straight into view you’re surely dead. The trick is to come up from bottom where a small portion of the doors is hidden by the ramp. Most players who play in Ts won’t be expecting that. Cross the doors like this while crouching.

After entering the doors remember to keep crouching. While still crouching, double zoom the awp like shown below. Remember to place the aim a little below so when you stand you aim directly the T sniper.

Crouching CT sniper

Now stand and snipe that terrorist. Don’t repeat this trick very much because after a while the T sniper will know you’re coming from the bottom.

Enabling Third Person View

I know a way to enable third person view on your local game. I’m not sure if it will work on public servers on not. Here’s how you can do it. Before starting a new game, open up the console by pressing `/~. In the console, enter these three commands.

cam_idealyaw 0

Then start a new game. Enjoy in third person view!

Flash & Kill At Long From CT Spawn Ramp

If you are alone at CT spawn ramp and there are enemies coming from long, you’re in big trouble! Most people will run and hide in the CT spawn. I’ll show you a trick where you can actually kill 3-4 enemies if you’re good with your weapon. Here’s the trick. While standing near the corner, if you hear the enemies come, run forward and hit the flash grenade as shown. Then, quickly move on to long before the grenade flashes. The flash grenade MUST fall behind your back. The enemies on the long will either be turning their backs toward you or be completely blind. First kill the enemies with their backs turned because they’ll recover from the flash earlier.

Remember, in this trick you’ll also get flashed but not completely. You’ll still see the enemies standing on the long. Here’s how you will feel.

If practiced correctly, this move can be made at any corner where the enemy has no option of hiding behind an object.

De_Dust2 Map Locations

Knowing the names of the map locations is critical for a good team work. Shown below are map location names for de_dust2 map. Although not “official”, they are the most commonly used names for de_dust2 spots. I used the CS:Source version of the map because it is clearer than CS 1.6’s map overview. I’ll be using these names for de_dust2 locations in all of my posts. Location names for other famous maps will be posted later.

Flashing Short Stairs From Long A

While getting to bombsite A from long A, the most dangerous spot from where you can get sniped easily is the short stairs. Flashing the short stairs before getting onto A ramp is really important. Here’s how you can do it perfectly without getting into sniper’s view.

While running forward hit the flash grenade at the top-middle spot of the crate as shown. It will land directly where you want, blind the enemy and allow you to proceed to the ramp. The flashed stairs are shown below.

A Secret About AWP Flicks

AWP flick is the shot where you quickly move your aim over to the enemy and shoot him right, even if the aim was not on him when you zoomed. If practiced and executed correctly, AWP becomes the most lethal weapon of CS. Experienced players’ aim automatically “flicks” to the enemy in the blink of an eye.

Now here’s a secret about flicks. For example, you zoom your AWP into an enemy and your aim is to the right from where it should be. You quickly move your (right) hand inwards and kill him. If this exact scenario happens a lot of times, you become good at “inward” flicks. But what if the aim lands to left next time? You won’t be able to execute your flick very good because you’re a master of “inward” flick, not “outward”. The secret is, you are good at only one of “inward” or “outward” flicks but not both. The trick is understand yourself to know what are you good at.

If you’re good at inward flicks, always keep your aim slightly to the right of the enemy before zooming and try to avoid landing your aim to the left. Similarly, if you’re good at outward flicks, keep your aim slightly to the left before zoomin. This way you’ll be able to execute your perfect move.

Familiar Map Rocks!

If you’re playing a good game in a map, it’s mainly because you’re good in THAT map. You won’t be playing that good if you switch to a map that you’re seeing for the first time. Sniping is especially difficult in unfamiliar maps. So don’t think you’ll be owning a territory you’ve never been in before. It will take time to be as good as you are in de_dust2 (atleast true for most of you!).

Long Double Doors Flashing – CT Side

When at CT side, if you hear T footsteps coming from the inside, throwing a flash nade as shown can blind the coming enemy surprisingly and badly. Even a bunch of 3-4 Ts can be killed if you rush inside immediately with a rifle after throwing.

Crouch Running

Crouch running is good at times when there are many undead players. It can be useful where you want to mask your footsteps in other noise such as weapons, grenades etc. Walking should be preferred over crouch running if conditions are other than said above.
